Indications

Poultry: For the treatment and prevention of respiratory disease in chicken flocks, associated with Mycoplasma gallisepticum and M. synoviae.

Calves: For the treatment and prevention of bovine respiratory disease, associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Mycoplasma bovis, M. dispar and other organisms susceptible to Qtill S Vet.

Pharmacology

Tilmicosin is a semi-synthetic antibiotic of the macrolide group, and is believed to affect protein synthesis of bacteria. It has bacteriostatic action but at high concentrations it may be bactericidal. Tilmicosin antibacterial activity is predominantly against Gram-positive microorganism with activity against certain gram-negative ones and Mycoplasma of a bovine, porcine, ovine and avian origin.

Dosage & Administration

Tilmicosin oral solution can be administered at the following dosage rate-
  • Poultry: 3 ml per 10-liter drinking water or 15-20 mg/kg bodyweight for 3 days.
  • Calves: 1 ml per 20 kg body weight or, 12.5 mg/kg body weight and given twice daily for 3-5 consecutive days. Or as advised by the registered Veterinarian.

Interaction

Cross-resistance between Qtill S Vet and other macrolides and Lincomycin has been observed.

Contraindications

Do not allow horses and other equines access to drinking water containing Tilmicosin. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to Tilmicosin.

Precautions & Warnings

Inappropriate use of the product may increase the prevalence of bacteria resistant to Qtill S Vet and may decrease the effectiveness of treatment with Qtill S Vet-related substances. Medicated drinking water should be prepared fresh every 24 hours.

Withdrawal Period: Meat: Chicken - 12 days, Turkey- 19 days & Calf- 42 days.

Store in a cool and dry place, protect from light and moisture. Keep all medicines out of the reach of the children.
