Pharmacology
This preparation is water soluble antibiotic powder containing a combination of three potent anti-bacterial agents, erythromycin, sulphadiazine, & trimethoprim. This combination provides broad spectrum activity against a wide range of bacterial & some protozoal infections. Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic highly effective against gram positive bacteria, and Mycoplasma. It is also effective against some gram-negative bacteria such as Nessaria spp. & Haemophilus spp. Erythromycin works by binding with 50s ribosomal subunit, consequently inhibit protein synthesis of bacteria. Sulphadiazine inhibits biosynthesis of PABA to dihydrosulphonic acid & Trymethoprim inhibits the biosynthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid from dihydrofolic acid.
