Indications
Meloxicam & Paracetamol is indicated in inflammation, pain, fever, lameness, dehorning & castration. It is also used as supportive therapy in acute respiratory infections, diarrhea, acute mastitis etc.
Description
Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of oxicam family. It acts by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, thereby exerting anti- inflammatory, anti-exudative, analgesic and antipyretic properties. Meloxicam has anti-endotoxic properties too. Paracetamol is an antipyretic agent. It reduces fever by depressing the heat regulatory centers in the hypothalamus.
Dosage & Administration
Injection-
- For intramuscular/subcutaneous/intravenous administration.
- Livestock: 1 ml/40 kg body weight as a single dose.
- Large Animal: 1 bolus/200 kg body weight daily.
- Small Animal: 1/4-1/2 bolus daily. Or as directed by the Veterinary Physician.

Interaction
May cause increased likelihood of bleeding if use in conjunction with Corticosteroids, Heparin, Warfarin, Aspirin, Flunixin & Phenylbutazone.
Contraindications
- Animals less than six weeks old.
- Animals hypersensitive to Meloxicam.
- Contraindicated in animals with impaired renal, hepatic & cardiac function.
Side Effects
A slight transient swelling at the injection site following SC injection may be seen. Prolong use may cause gastrointestinal lesions, inappetence, vomiting and diarrhea.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended for use in pregnant or lactating animals.
Precautions & Warnings
Do not administer concurrently with steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (SAID) & other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID).
Withdrawal period-
Withdrawal period-
- Meloxicam: Meat- 15 days, Milk- 5 days.
- Paracetamol: Not known.
Storage Conditions
Store in a cool & dry place, protected from light. Keep all medicines out of reach of children.
