Carbamide Peroxide

Indications

As an aid to soften, loosen and remove excessive ear wax.

Pharmacology

Carbamide Peroxide is an ear wax removal drops consists of Carbamide peroxide. Ear wax is an important part of the body’s system for keeping dirt, bacteria and other things causing hearing problems. Too much ear wax can block the ear canal and reduce hearing. This medication releases oxygen and starts to foam when it comes in contact with the skin. The foaming helps break up and remove the earwax. This ear drops helps to soften, loosen and remove the excessive ear wax.

Dosage & Administration

Adults and children over 12 years old: Tilt the head sideways and then place 5-10 drops in the ear. Tip should not touch the ear canal. Keep drops in the ear for several minutes by keeping head tilted or placing cotton in the ear. Use twice daily for up to four days if needed, or as directed by a doctor. This is for use in the ear only.

Children under 12 years of age: consult with a doctor.

Contraindications

Carbamide Peroxide ear drops is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to it. Do not use if you have ear drainage, ear pain, irritation or rash in the ear, or feel dizzy. Also do not use if you have an injury or perforation (hole) of the ear drum or after ear surgery. Stop use of the product and seek doctors consultation if excessive ear wax remains after use of the product for four consecutive days.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include a foaming or crackling sound in the ear after using the ear drops, temporary decrease in hearing after using the drops, mild feeling of fullness in the ear or mild itching inside the ear. Rare case of dizziness, new or worsening ear problem may be seen.

Pregnancy & Lactation

There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Use should be avoided.

Precautions & Warnings

Avoid contact with eye and mouth. If comes contact with eye, flush eye with lots of water. Seek emergency medical attention if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication. Not instructed to use if patient has an allergic reaction to carbamide peroxide.

Overdose Effects

An overdose of carbamide peroxide ear drops is not expected to be dangerous. Seek emergency medical
attention if anyone has accidentally swallowed the medication.
